Pedal Power: Exploring Anna Maria Island by Bicycle

| September 1, 2023

Just off the southwest coast of Florida is a small piece of heaven, the beautiful Anna Maria Island. Clear white sand beaches line picturesque ocean views, and each of the three cities on the island are full of vintage charm. Whether you are looking to relax or even get away for a working vacation, Anna Maria Island is sure to be the island paradise you have been dreaming of.

Both Tourists and Locals Agree:

The best way to explore Anna Maria Island is by bicycle. The island is just seven miles long by eight city blocks wide and is full of accessible bike lanes and paths that have been carefully planned.  While biking is excellent exercise, the bike paths on Anna Maria Island are level and designed with ease of travel in mind to best take in all the beauty that the island has to offer.

Remember when out riding to wear proper protective equipment, bring along water to hydrate, and most importantly—have fun!

3 Must Explore Bike Paths on Anna Maria Island

Looking for the best bike paths on Anna Maria Island? These are three must-visits!

Bradenton Beach Bike Path

These 5 miles of looping paths start on Gulf Drive and connect with the Longboat Pass Bridge. The trail continues down Gulf Drive through the charming downtown, filled with delicious eats and boutique shopping.

Coquina Beach Bike Path

Connected to the Bradenton Beach Bike Path, the Coquina Beach Bike Path travels along the beach with the same name. Enjoy the scenery while passing active volleyball courts, ocean sports, and picture-perfect relaxation. This was one of our picks for National Bike Month last May, and for good reason!

Lake Manatee State Park

Lake Manatee State Park offers two separate bike paths. The first path is 2.5 miles of smooth pavement that loops around the shore of Lake Manatee, through the natural foliage, and near the rustic beauty of the park’s campsites. The second path runs 2.3 miles through adventurous untamed terrain that takes cyclists through patches of wildflowers, a chance to see wildlife in their natural habitat, and breathtaking views of the lake.

If you get tired, no worries! The free trolly service on Anna Maria Island runs from 6 a.m.-9 p.m. and can accommodate bikes too!

You might say that it is Serendipitous…

When you stay at any of Serendipity’s luxury rentals you don’t need to worry about finding or renting a bicycle for your stay on Anna Maria Island. Bicycles are an included amenity with our rentals.
